Karmapa

His Holiness XVII Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje has been invited to Europe in 2010 by a group representing many Dharma groups in Europe.

Details are still being finalised and will be published at:

http://www.karmapanetwork.eu/

The UK dates are being organised by Ten Directions, a consortium of UK Dharma groups and it is hoped that His Holiness will visit London on June on the evening of Friday 18th and all day on Saturday 19th.  Dates are also planned at the new Samye Dzong centre in London and Samye Ling in Scotland.

You can read more about the Karmapa at:

More details will be posted as they become available

Ten Directions, the organising committee now need to raise funds to begin paying upfront costs and are offering members of Dharma groups and Dharma practitioners without an affiliation to a group, the opportunity to contribute to this great and auspicious venture.

The committee are requesting loans and donations for this purpose. Loans will be repaid after the event and gifts will be very gratefully received!  It should be noted that if the visit does not go ahead due to unforseen circumstances then some costs will have already been expended and it may be that not all of the loan can be repaid.

If you would like to make an offering to help enable this visit you will find a form below which you can cut and paste.  Please complete this and send it to Ten Directions C/O The Buddhist Society, 58 Ecclestone Square, London SW1V 1PH.   In order to reduce administration tasks they have asked that loans and donations made directly to Ten Directions should be for a minimum of £100.00.

However for those of you who cannot commit to £100.00 or more you are invited to make a collection from fellow practitioners and other interested parties and to send this as a group sum.

If you are a solitary practitioner or do not raise the sum above you are welcome to send cheques to me at the address below and make them out to Bodhicharya Buddhist Group, I will send you a receipt by E-mail or post.  As noted in the form, individual subscribers will be eligible for preference in purchasing their tickets.

In order for this visit to go ahead it is imperative that we have funds to continue the preparations, these will be for His Holiness’ travel costs, website, advertising, deposits etc.

This is a rare opportunity for our Dharma practice, so that we can allow our faith in His Holiness’ aspirations to help all sentient beings to further develop and to personally make our own aspirations to help beings, in a very practical manner.

Ten Directions would be very grateful if you would circulate this news to interested parties as a priority in order that the fund will grow to enable the visit to go ahead.

With thanks and prayers for the successful visit of His Holiness

Visit to the UK by HH Gyalwa Karmapa in June 2010

We’re delighted to be part of a group of 17 Dharma organisations who, under the umbrella name of Ten Directions, have jointly requested His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley Dorje, to give public teachings in London during his European tour next June.

This, the first visit of His Holiness to Europe, will be an extremely auspicious event and we are eager for as many people as possible to share in enabling it to happen.

Our most urgent need is for funding to enable us to secure a suitable venue and meet the other advance expenses involved in hosting these teachings.  Any amount, small or large, is welcome – however in order to keep administration to a minimum the organisers have requested that offerings made directly to the fund be kept to £100 minimum.

However if you are a solitary practitioner or do not raise the sum above you are welcome to send cheques to me, the Bodhicharya Buddhist Group Secretary at the address below and make them out to Bodhicharya Buddhist Group, I will send you a receipt by E-mail or post.

If you give or loan more than £100, Ten Directions will offer you preference in buying a ticket (before tickets go on public sale) in appreciation for your generosity in helping to make this event possible.

 With many thanks!

If you’d like to contribute to the success of the UK visit, please consider whether you can offer a donation or a loan.  Please note that if the event were not to go ahead, it may not be possible to return loans as advance costs would still have to be met
